I teach IB Math the way examiners mark it
IB exam strategy is what separates a 5 from a 7.
Most students I work with are predicted 4s and 5s but are capable of 6s and 7s. I analyse your work to understand where you are losing marks, what examiners are looking for, and what you need to do differently to reach your target grade. That gives us a clear plan for what to work on.
How I teach IB Math
Every session uses real IB past papers and the mark schemes examiners work from.
"I teach you to understand and approach, not to memorise and repeat."
What you don’t see in a great lesson
During a lesson, you see the explanations. What you do not see are the small decisions behind them, what to prioritise and how to use every minute well. That judgement comes from years teaching only IB Mathematics.
Knowing what matters most
Knowing what to teach is easy. Knowing what to leave out, what to prioritise, and which question moves a student forward, that is where experience makes the difference.
Hard things made obvious
The hardest IB questions are difficult because the thinking is hidden, not because the mathematics is impossible. My job is to uncover that thinking until complex ideas feel clear and logical.
Every lesson with a purpose
Before we meet, I already know which concepts and question types will produce the most improvement, so no time is spent deciding what to do.
Involved between lessons
Progress does not stop when the lesson ends. I track a student’s work, adapt the plan as weaknesses appear, and build support as exams approach.
The result is more than better understanding. You will know what to revise, how to approach unfamiliar multi-step questions that combine several concepts, and how to show your working so every mark is gained.
Student Results
“I really enjoyed my lessons with Abdulhamid. Even despite my poor knowledge in maths with a Grade 2 in IB AA SL, I improved to a Grade 6 in six months, all thanks to Abdulhamid. I advise this tutor to everyone who’s not confident in maths and wants to improve.”
“Mr. Abdulhamid is an excellent teacher who is very knowledgeable about the IB AA HL syllabus. His clear explanations helped me identify weaknesses in my knowledge and strengthen my understanding. I strongly recommend that other students do the same.”
“The best! Abdulhamid is an extremely talented tutor for the IB diploma. He immediately recognised her challenges and was able to tailor his approach. He is by far the best tutor we have ever had.”

Who This Is For
The students who get the most out of working with me.
Students who get the most out of this:
- The student practises between sessions
- There’s consistent weekly commitment
- Goals are clear: target grade, exam date, or IA deadline
- Parents and students are aligned on the plan
I teach every session myself, so I work with a small number of students at a time.
My role is to guide and challenge students. The biggest improvements come from students willing to put in the work between lessons.
The IB is demanding enough on its own. No student should have to face it without real support.
IB Math Tutor FAQ
About sessions, scheduling, and courses.
Each session is one to one on Zoom. We work through the material and real exam questions together, and I set focused practice for between sessions. Everything is planned around your target grade and exam date.
Usually within a few days of applying. After you apply I reply within 12 hours, we have a brief consultation, and then we begin.
Yes. I guide students through the IA criterion by criterion, from topic choice to final draft. I give feedback on your own work. I never write or edit it for you.
For many competitive colleges, the university offer names the IB Math grade specifically. That is why the difference between a 5 and a 7 matters beyond the diploma.
